What is it and what is the cause?
When we are young, our skin sheds its cells every 30 days. However, as we get older this extends up to every 60 days. Skin becomes sluggish and the natural decrease in cell turnover can cause a build-up of dead skin cells and a dull looking complexion, which reflects no light. Lifestyle factors have an influence on this, such as sun damage which breaks down collagen and smoking which reduces blood flow to the skin surface.
Treatments
- Microdermabrasion – a mechanical deep exfoliation to remove debris from the skin surface and stimulate new collagen growth leaving skin very soft, smooth and glowy. £45 per session.
- Resurfacing peels – Penetrate under the skin surface to remove debris such as dead skin cells, leaving smoother, softer skin and allowing skin products to penetrate to a deeper level. Peels can be tailored to your skins requirements. £65 per peel. NB prep is required daily for at least 2 weeks prior to a resurfacing peel using a special glycolic lotion to allow deeper penetration.
- Dermalux – Red light therapy to stimulate new collagen growth and help “rev” the skin up by increasing cell turnover time. £40 per session.
- Skin Needling – Tiny little fine needles pricks to the skin to create “trauma” in the deeper levels of the skin so skin repairs itself by generating new collagen. An excellent treatment for acne scarring and “smokers” lines as well as overall skin rejuvenation. £250 per session.
